The Jamboree is looking for an illustrator / artist for the 2027 season - and beyond. See the past “Festival Posters” page for inspiration!
Job description:
- Create lettering for ‘The 27th Annual Subdued Stringband Jamboree’ and a few other specifics.
- Create 5-10 images to be used on our promo, merch, and decor.
- Collaborate with SSJ Art Director, who leads the graphic design and site decoration teams.
Timeline:
- Send submission by Wednesday, October 26, 2026.
- Meet with SSJ team and start work early November, 2026.
- Check-in and feedback, January 10, 2027.
- Bulk of the work to be completed by February 1st.
- Illustrator will work with the Jamboree’s design team in February & March.
- Smaller projects may be needed April-July.
Compensation: $500 plus SSJ merch credit, 2 weekend passes to the Jamboree.

Some guidelines:
- Focus on traditional instruments and musicians: fiddles, banjos, guitars, camping, etc.
- Avoid representations of identifiable people - you can create imaginary people, animals, or use your imagination.
- Sending a few music-specific sketches and/or title text will help us out. A simple idea is fine!
- If you like, let us know a bit about your history with the Jamboree, if you've been. Or a little bit about how you you think your style will fit our vibe.
